Our stay at the Metropole Taormina Maison D’Hôtes was among the best holiday experiences we have ever had. Our accomodations, an unexpected upgrade, were amazing. The staff, food and location are spectacular. The reception staff, waitstaff (Maria was wonderful each morning) and the garage staff were a pleasure to work with. Our stay at Zash was very enjoyable. We were warmly welcomed and the premises of the hotel are amazing. Pool and breakfast were highlights of our stay. Also the massage booked was of high quality. Main point for improvement would be the room itself. Maintenance was lacking and was not on par with the quality of the rest of the hotel. Think of damaged furniture and lamps, TV not working (not that we needed it) and a shower that went in all directions due to chalk buildup.

The appartments were luxurious & spotlessly clean, the terrace & view superb.We slept so well, bed was so comfortable.Mr.Fabbiano was very welcoming & great fun! He recommended some restaurants for us,brought us some Sicilain cake to try & even drove us & our suitcases up the steep hill(which is not for the faint hearted!) to our awaiting taxi on our departure.We would highly recommend these appartments.

We did not stay at this accommodation but we found a room at the 4* Villafranca hotel in Palermo. The Dimora del Genio was in a very bad part of town and was very dark in the stairwell. No lift, the appartment itself looked fine but the bedrooms were not good ...think student accommodation! It is not the sort of accommodation I am used to, the web site did not marry up to the actual experience. Partly our fault we should never have booked it.
